The former president of of New York University’s College Republicans chapter has spoken out after being forced to resign from the role.

In recent days, Kaya Walker spoke with Vanity Fair about her rather famous fellow student Barron Trump – the youngest child of Donald Trump.

Barron is attending NYU’s Stern School of Business, which is seen as one of America’s top business schools.

Kaya had been the president of NYU College Republicans, but had to step down from the position after her controversial comments about Barron.

“He’s sort of like an oddity on campus,” she told Vanity Fair.

Kaya added: “He goes to class, he goes home.”

It wasn’t long until she was criticized online for her sentiments, with the College Republicans of America (CRA) saying that her comments her ‘inappropriate’ and in conflict with its ‘values and principles’.

Kaya went on to resign from her presidential role on Sunday night (February 16).

Now, she has spoken out for herself and addressed the controversy.

Speaking to The New York Post, the NYU student said: “I’ve been killing myself trying to support the conservative movement. Everybody knows that it’s an uphill battle being a Republican at NYU.”

Kaya continued: “I’ve put my everything into building up my chapter. I built [attendance] up exponentially.

“It’s been insane, especially this past year, we’ve seen such a rise in membership and had such a great time.”

But Barron, 18, is no stranger to the spotlight and has been in the public eye for some time now with his very famous father in mind.

At one point, the teenager went viral as people compared his reaction to his dad’s inaugural address to Elon Musk’s.

As Trump finished his speech with comments about America’s plans to ‘plant the stars and stripes on the planet Mars’, Barron stood up to applaud his father while looking quite serious, while Musk excitedly cheered, grinned, and stuck up two thumbs.

Laughing at the stark difference between the pair, one person said on social media: “Barron Trump looked like he feared being the first person sent to Mars.”

While another wrote: “Barron Trump giving zero f**ks about Mars while standing next to Elon Musk.”

A third added: “I’m gonna assume Baron Trump is not a fan of Elon Musk by what I just saw on cam lol.”
