Nikki Garcia’s Sister Brie Garcia Sends Message to Trauma Victims After Alleged Artem Chigvintsev Fight
Brie Garcia spoke directly to victims, encouraging them to fight for better, amid sister Nikki Garcia’s ongoing legal battle with estranged husband Artem Chigvintsev.
Brie Garcia is sharing an important message.
As her sister Nikki Garcia continues to be locked in a family dispute with her estranged husband Artem Chigvintsev, Brie issued an impassioned message to those navigating challenging times.
“The last week, when I’ve seen trauma, that’s the sadness that has come,” she shared on the Oct. 4 episode of The Nikki & Brie Show podcast. “And it’s crazy, because when we are looking trauma in the face and we’re seeing it, all you want to do is help.”
Brie—who hosted the episode solo—continued, “Sometimes what trauma can do to us is it can make us hide in our shells. It can make us run back to certain situations that cause the pain it can literally make us just let go, give up all the different feelings because it’s painful. It doesn’t feel good.”
Which is why she wants women dealing with trauma to know they’re not alone. “Nikki, myself, and a whole army of women are here to support and help you,” she added. “Give you strength. Give you confidence. Don’t take the shit anymore.”
The 40-year-old continued, “If you are in a situation that is toxic, that’s not good, time to say, ‘Game over.’ It is hard to be strong. It’s hard to be confident. Please stop, look in the mirror, put yourself first.”
Brie’s passionate message comes after Nikki—who filed for divorce from Artem on Sept. 11, following his Aug. 29 arrest on suspicion of felony domestic violence—was granted a temporary restraining order against Artem, per TMZ.
“Due to the incident that led to Artem’s arrest on August 29, 2024, Nikki has decided to file for a temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order to protect herself and her son,” the former WWE star’s reps said in a statement TMZ. “Although Nikki requested that the Napa District Attorney not file charges against Artem as she did not want him to go to jail, he must still be held accountable for his actions, and Nikki and her son must be protected.”
The order keeps Artem—whose criminal charges were dropped by prosecutors Sept. 24—from contacting or coming within 100 yards of Nikki, their 4-year-old Matteo or their home, per the outlet, except for court-ordered visitation or exchange of their son.
In the paperwork requesting the restraining order, which Nikki submitted at the Napa County courthouse, she detailed alleging multiple instances of physical attacks from Artem, claiming the 42-year-old “tackled me multiple times and pinned me to the ground while our child was present.”
She also claimed Artem became “increasingly angry” after learning he was not asked back to DWTS, including “snapping” and “yelling.”
E! News reached out to lawyers for Nikki and Artem at the time but did not hear back.
But amid the ongoing situation, the Total Bellas alum noted her priority remains Matteo.
“Nikki’s number one priority has always been the wellbeing of her son,” her rep added in their statement. “She is thankful for all of the love and support she has received and continues to ask for privacy for her and her family during this difficult time.”
It is a sentiment echoed by Artem.
“He is my world, and being his father is the greatest blessing in my life,” he said of Matteo in a statement to E! News Sept. 25. “I am committed to continuing to provide him with the love, support, and care he needs as we move forward.”
The dancer also expressed his gratitude for the charges against him being dropped, adding, “This has been an extremely difficult time for me. I am thankful that the truth has prevailed.”
